Description: Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau Revises the five-year marketing plan and adopts an annual budget and work plan annually. The bureau is a membership organization with members paying annual dues of $25, or if representing a business, paying annual dues of at least $100. An independent not-for-profit corporation organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and funded primarily by CBJ bed tax receipts. The bureau is organized to increase the number of visitors coming to Juneau through convention marketing, tourism marketing, and visitor information services.
Membership: JCVB is governed by a nine to twelve member board of directors. A board member must be a member of the bureau and be either elected by the membership or appointed by the chair of the board. There are eight elected board members, up to three appointed board members, and a permanent representative appointed by the CBJ. The eight elected board members serve for two-year, staggered terms. Elections are held each fall just prior to the annual meeting in November. The board hires the President/CEO, who provides policy direction to the professional staff.
