On January 16, 2009, Marianne Mills, Program Director for Southeast Senior Services, requested additional funding ($27,467 for FY09 and $54,934 for FY10) for Care-A-Van services. A memo from Ms. Mills’ explaining her request for the expanded service and funding are included in the packet materials. Rosemary Hagevig, CCS Director, and Marsha Partlow, Regional Care-A-Van Service Coordinator, will be present to address Committee questions.

V. Transit Express Bus Service Levels

On February 24, a recommendation to increase the frequency of express bus service to 30-minute service was submitted to the Planning Commission. After reviewing the proposal, the Commission unanimously supported the transit development recommendation submitted in a February 17, 2009 memo from Ben Lyman, Senior Planner. The Planning Commission also recommended the 30-minute service proposal be forward to the Assembly Finance Committee for review. Mr. Lyman’s February 17, 2009 memo along with a memo from John Kern, Capital Transit Manager, discussing the proposal, costs and funding recommendations is included in the packet materials.

VI. Summer 2009 Tourism Outlook (JCVB)

Lorene Palmer, JCVB President and CEO, will provide the Committee with a 2009 summer visitor outlook.

VII. 5-year General Governmental Budget Overview

Staff will present to the Committee a 5-year budget projection. These estimates are extremely rough due to the uncertainty of the impacts of the current global and US economic recession. The CBJ is currently being impacted by reductions in property assessments, sales tax revenues and Central Treasury investment income. There is a lack of information on expected economic activity from our summer visitors and this has made projecting budgetary expectations very uncertain.
