A. Bid Award – Contract No. #08-090
Glacier Valley Elementary School Renovation, Phase II
Bids were opened on the subject project on March 12, 2008. The bid protest period will expire at 4:30 p.m. on March 24, 2008. Results of the bid opening are as follows in the attached link.
Project Manager: Nathan Coffee
Project Description: Reconfiguration of site circulation with new asphalt and concrete paving, lighting, and other related site improvements; reconfiguration of the building core to provide administration suite, a commons area, a kitchen, and a consolidated mechanical fan room; reconfiguration of the kindergarten classrooms to provide two small group rooms; reconfigure of the library to provide a media lab, replacement and upgrade of interior finishes and casework throughout the school; replacement of all the school’s mechanical and electrical distribution systems; structural improvements throughout the school; removal of hazardous materials; and installation of new siding and windows at the library, the kindergarten classrooms, and various other exterior locations.
Architects Estimate: Approximately $10,300,000
Funding Source: This Project is funded by 2006/2008 General Obligation (GO) Bond Proceeds that are eligible for 70% reimbursement by the State of Alaska Department of Education and Early Development Funds, interest from the Glacier Valley Renovation Fund, and $1,300,000 of additional funds from the Districtwide Major Maintenance Fund.
I recommend award of this project to Dawson Construction, Inc., to include Alternate No. 5, in the amount of $11,497,000 pending the ten-day protest period.
