Juneau Tourism Management Plan

Activity 5 - Develop Working Paper on Alternative Tourism Futures and Issues

The working paper will synthesize the research and findings from the key stakeholders interviews, emphasizing a description of alternative tourism futures and outline impacts along with a comprehensive discussion of issues identified to date. This working paper will form the basis for ongoing public discussion through the consultation process. It will first be reviewed with the client in Activity 6.

The results of the case studies and lessons learned will be integrated into the working paper. These will be invaluable in the context of discussing the issues and how other jurisdictions have (or have not) addressed these.

The intent of this working paper, once reviewed by the client, is to provide a starting point for discussion around the development of the tourism management plan. To that end, the working paper will also include a definition of what constitutes a tourism management plan and what needs to be achieved in the course of the technical analysis and public consultation.
