Ed Foster
Streets and Fleet Superintendent
Ed Foster was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. He first came to Alaska in 1987
while serving in the US Army and was assigned to Fort Wainwright, in Fairbanks.
His Military commitment required him to leave Alaska in 1991 and served
two years in the middle of the Mojave Desert before retiring and returning
to Fairbanks in 1993. Ed has three children and two grandchildren.
Mr. Foster has an Associate of Arts degree in Business Management from Barstow
College in Barstow, California. He enlisted in the US Army in 1975 as a vehicle
mechanic. After seven years in the 82nd Airborne Division, he was commissioned
a Warrant Officer. He then served a four-year tour in Germany and was accepted
into the Warrant Officer Advanced Course. He was assigned to Fort Wainwright,
Alaska and then to Fort Irwin, California, where he retired in 1993 and moved
back to Fairbanks. Ed went to work for the University of Alaska Fairbanks
in 1993 and held several positions including Fleet Manager, Facilities Services
Operations Director, and Facilities Services Operations and Maintenance Director,
before leaving in 2009. Ed accepted the position of Streets and Fleet Superintendent
with the City and Borough of Juneau in April 2010 and moved to Juneau.
