There is a Junk Vehicle Event scheduled to begin on May 22, 2009.

Please note it is on a first come, first served basis with a limited number of vehicles accepted Monday through Saturday. The Event will continue until the maximum number of vehicles are accepted for this Event.

Go to "Owner Responsibility Form" and forms can be printed out on-line, but you will need to print and fill out 2 copies to take to Event, or forms are available at Channel Construction at 2223 N. Jordan Ave., or Water Utility at 5433 Shaune Drive or at the Event.

What are hours of operation? 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday

Where is it? 1725 Anka Street

How do I get there? Turn off Old Glacier Hwy as if going to Costco, but do not turn on Commercial Blvd. The Event is on Anka. There will be signs directing you to the event.

How much does it cost? Nothing for residential junk car disposal

Who is eligible to participate? Any Juneau resident - no commercially owned vehicle, (profit or non-profit) will be accepted. If the vehicle is found to be owned by a business, that business will be billed for the full value of junking the vehicle.

What vehicles are accepted? The vehicle must be registered in Alaska. Cars, pick-ups, vans, motorcycles, RV's, travel trailers, and licensed trailers are accepted.

What do I have to do to the vehicle? The vehicle must be empty, free of garbage, scrap metal and can only have one spare tire. You DO NOT have to drain any fluids or remove the gas tank. .  RV’s & Travel Trailers must be free of any biohazards (sewage tank removed), and no furniture, including appliances.

Do I need to bring any documents? No, but you will be required to completely fill out an "Owner Responsibility Form", and sign the form as the owner. (Forms are available at the Event or from Channel Construction at 2223 N. Jordan Ave. in Jordan Creek Condos, CBJ Water Utility at 5433 Shaune Drive or CBJ Treasury at 155 S. Seward Street in the Municipal Building.)

NOTICE: Any vehicles abandoned at or near the collection site will be ticketed and fined as an abandoned vehicle and the full cost of disposing it charged to the owner.
