City and Borough of Juneau
Juneau Police Department
The Records Unit is available to serve the public at the front counter 8:00am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. The unit consists of 5 clerks and a supervisor. The Records Unit processes and manages all of the paperwork generated by department officers. These records typically include crime reports, traffic citations, crime scene photographs, and audio recordings for transcription. In addition to department-generated records, the clerks work closely with the court and prosecuting attorneys to ensure that they receive all records necessary for the judicial process.
The Records Unit also manages parking tickets written by, not only police staff, but other CBJ departments, such as harbor and airport officers. The clerks assist citizens with many services such as release of impounded vehicles, requests for police reports, service of citizen subpoenas, and the collection of traffic and parking fines. The Records Unit is also responsible for providing the State and FBI with Uniform Crime Reporting statistics based on crimes reported to and investigated by the police department.
To request copies of records please fill out a Records Request form and turn it in to the records department. A fee may apply to records requests.
