Ask a Dispatcher
Q. After the new sidewalks were put in on Wood Duck, they installed "no parking any time signs" on the non-sidewalk side of the street. They are spaced about every other property or so. Does this mean that the entire one side of the street is no parking or that you can only park in front of the properties not displaying the signs? If it is in fact no parking, who do talk to to have it changed?
Dear Juneau Resident,
There is no parking allowed on the non-sidewalk side of the street. You can address objections you have to the CBJ Streets division at 586-5256. However, be prepared to find out that there are books of engineering rules that go into decisions like where zones are placed, often influenced by the width of the street, speed limit, type of development, etc... Transportation guidelines make criminal law look simple and understandable by comparison. The folks over at Streets are really good at discussing such decisions so you should not hesitate to ask.
