Q. is it illegal to order from this website? http://www.brassknucklescompany.com/CRE/
Dear Juneau Resident,
I am not familiar with that particular site and I am not going to invite a visit from the Captain of Operations by looking at it on a city computer. That being said the site is obviously about concealable weapons. It's legal to purchase brass knuckles and similar items, what can get you into trouble is how you carry and what you do with the purchased item.
It is a crime to have brass knuckles concealed on your person. It is an additional crime if you are committing a burglary, DV protective order violation, criminal trespass, etc...while having brass knuckles on you. It's also a crime to have the item and fail to tell any police officer who contacts you. If you use brass knuckles to punch someone, you are automatically into a felony unless the blow is self-defense. Someone carrying brass knuckles might have a tough hill to climb in claiming he or she wasn't looking for a fight.
It's your money but the item sold on that site has some pretty limited legal application after it arrives. Most financial advisors suggest people wait three days before making a purchase like this, just to think it over. There is a reindeer Christmas sweater with light up nose someone at JPD has that she wishes had inspired a three day contemplation period. That's 50 dollars I, I mean she, will never get back.
