Q. I have an app on my iPhone for my vehicle insurance (State Farm) that displays my current insurance card. Is that sufficient for proof of insurance if Iím ever pulled over by JPD?
Dear Juneau Resident,
To quote a JPD employee I ran this by..."Wow, that's cool."
I wanted to make sure it was cool by our legal folks. The lead city prosecutor says if the officer believes the app is accurate, then it can be accepted as proof. The app does have to have the policy number, expiration, company logo...basically all the information that is on a card.
Since you are cutting edge with your app, you might want to overlap your insurance card and your insurance app for awhile so you can show both.
