Ask a Dispatcher
Q. If I call 911 about a domestic disturbance and give the operator my name and phone number, will this information be in the police report?
Dear Juneau Resident,
You can ask to remain anonymous if you are concerned about someone with a temper problem learning your name. This will change what officers can use as part of the case since named reporters are considered more reliable in the legal system than unnamed reporters. You can also block your phone to make sure no number comes up at the time of the report.
When someone comes into JPD and asks for a police report, the records clerks do take out the caller's name. How ever if the case goes to trial it is very possible a caller's name will have to be disclosed by the prosecution to the defense. A caller may be asked to testify by either the defense or prosecution. This testimony is not optional if you are under subpoena.
While anyone could understand your concerns, a bully or abuser gets his or her power when other people give in to fear of them.
