Ask a Dispatcher
Q. I recently went to the auction this past Saturday and was wondering why the cars that were bid on but not picked up on time aren't carried over to the next auction. There was a car that I wanted lost the bid and it wasnt picked up, so it has to be destroyed. So much for recycling.
Dear Juneau Resident,
At Saturday's auction we did have a person that bid a car up to a fairly substantial sum for a JPD auction. This person then decided not to pay for the car. That is a bad turn of events for JPD and for the other bidders, who presumably would have met their obligation had they gotten the car. JPD will be holding that particular car over for the next auction.
In the past someone bid $25 and did not pick up the car. JPD staff made the decision that the car was not of significant value and would just be take up room in the impound lot. That car was destroyed.
Try looking for the car you want at the next auction!
