Ask a Dispatcher
Q. On main street in downtown Douglas (3rd street) there are many 'cross streets'. Although the corners of these cross streets are painted as no parking areas (for 20 feet from intersections or so) people still park there cars on the main street butting up right next to the cross streets. The problem comes in when trying to pull out onto main street from one of the sides streets. When a car is illegally parked in the no parking areas close the sides streets, you cannot see oncoming traffic from the left or the right and have to pull your vehicle out into the roadway to see. My question is why people illegally parked in these 'no parking' areas are never cited? I know several accidents have been caused because of this, and I myself have almost be T'boned as I could not see around the parked cars. I think if it was downtown, you'd be ticketed in 5 minutes tops.We pay our taxes in Douglas too you know.
