Investigations Unit
The Juneau Police Department Investigations Unit consists of six officers and one
sergeant. Two of the officers are assigned to the Southeast Alaska Narcotics
Enforcement Team (S.E.A.N.E.T.) a regional drug taskforce. The transfer to
Investigations is a lateral transfer for approximately 3-6 years. Members of
the unit receive special training in homicide investigation, sexual assault
investigation and child exploitation investigation. They also receive additional
training in crime scene processing, photographing, and interviewing. The officers
assigned to the drug unit also receive special training in conducting under cover
operations, drug buys, methamphetamine lab investigation, and informant management.
