In FY 2007-2008, the Department is authorized 52 commissioned personnel, 40 civilian personnel and 1 F.T.E. shared by up to 4 police reserve officers. In order to accomplish its mission, the Department is organized into functional work units as depicted in the organizational chart. The staffing and responsibilities of each organizational unit are as follows: Chief of Police – Responsible for the overall direction and operation of the Department. Assistant Chief of Police – Reporting directly to the Chief of Police, the Assistant Chief of Police is responsible for administrative and functional matters of operation and support within the Department on a 24 hour basis. The Assistant Chief of Police is responsible for the overall direction and operation of the Department when the Chief of Police is absent from the City and Borough. Operations Division – Reporting directly to the Assistant Chief of Police, the Operations Commander has 24 hour responsibility for the delivery of patrol and special operations functions for the Department. Included in that role is the oversight of the Department’s fleet of vehicles. Administrative Services Division – Also reporting directly to the Assistant Chief of Police is the Administrative Manager who is responsible for the Department’s fiscal activities, records, computer systems, personnel recruitment, crime analysis and for maintaining police facilities. |
