Now Hiring | Juneau Pools Administrative Assistant
If you enjoy aquatics and care about recreation and wellness, we are looking for a Juneau Pools Administrative Assistant to provide committed customer service to Juneau pool users! You'll answer questions and requests from the public, process transactions and reservations, and assist aquatic management with various administrative and financial functions. Now Hiring | DPFH Recreation Worker II
If you like working independently in a fun environment, we are looking for two Recreation Workers to help operate the Dimond Park Field House! You would oversee daily operation and upkeep of the facility on evenings and weekends. We are looking for someone who has great customer service skills and enjoys working with the public. Sigoowu Ye Park Ribbon Cutting | August 29
Updates to Sigoowu Ye Park (Fun Place Park) in Lemon Creek have been completed, and the park opened to the public on Friday, July 31. We invite community members to celebrate with us at a ribbon-cutting ceremony and BBQ on Saturday, August 29, from 12 to 2 p.m. The celebration will be held at the park, located at 5921 Pine Street.
Thunder Mountain Bike Park Grand Opening | August 30
A bike train ribbon-cutting ceremony and community BBQ will be held on Sunday, August 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate the updates made to the Thunder Mountain Bike Park. The celebration will be held at the bike park, with parking available at Glacier Valley School. Follow directional signage starting at the Jennifer Drive trailhead to reach the park. Trails will be open for riding during the event, and helmets are required. RSVP to the Facebook event for details and updates!
Adair Kennedy Tennis and Pickleball Courts Now Open
The Adair Kennedy courts near Floyd Dryden are now open following resurfacing, restriping, and the installation of three new sets of net posts. The courts now feature two dedicated pickleball courts and one shared tennis and pickleball court. Painting of the shared court's pickleball lines will be completed when weather permits.
3rd Graders Skate for Free
All Juneau 3rd graders skate for free at Treadwell Arena during any drop-in session! This includes Open Skate, Family Skate, Stick N’ Puck, and Pond Hockey, and skate rental is included. For more information and registration instructions, visit the 3rd Grade Pass webpage.
New Hours for Open Turf
Beginning on Monday, August 23, Open Turf at the Dimond Park Field House will change from its previous time of 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. and will now be held from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. View the full DPFH schedule here.
Si't Tuwan Park Closed for Renovation
Si't Tuwan Park in the Valley is currently closed to the public as renovation work continues. Updates include new playground equipment, basketball improvements, drainage improvements, new play surfacing, and enhanced lighting throughout the site. For the safety of yourself and others, please respect the park closure and avoid all construction equipment until the project is complete and the park has reopened.
Replacement of Cope Park Water Utility Pump Station
Construction on a new water pump station at Cope Park is underway now and is expected to wrap up by early 2027. Cope Park will remain open throughout the project. The access road will be open to pedestrians the entire time, though vehicle traffic may be reduced to one lane periodically and briefly closed during certain construction activities. The 7th Street stair access will not be affected. Park users should follow all traffic control signs and flaggers and stay alert for construction equipment in the area.
