The goal of Juneau Parks and Recreation is to provide opportunities
for physical exercise, socialization, and healthy and constructive use
of leisure time for youth and adults through sports programs.
YOUTH SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Youth Basketball starts Saturday, January 9. Please contact us if you have not heard from your child's coach. The 5-6 yearold program is starting 1/20 (town) and 1/23 (valley) - stay tuned for information from P&R and your group coordinators.
Parks and Recreation is now allowing 5 year olds to join their recreational leagues! Players must be 5 by 10/1/09 to play indoor soccer, 2/1/10 for basketball, and 9/1/10 for outdoor soccer! Pass it on, tell a friend, sign up!

- Start Smart Basketball 2010 (now for 3-4 year olds!). Start Smart Basketball teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents. The program focuses on teaching children and their parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Click here for the registration form (available 11/4). SESSION 1 is Thursday, January 21 from 6-7pm at Mendenhall River School (and runs for 6 Thursdays).

A credit card and email address are needed to register via Active.com (a convenience fee is charged to register this way). Families of 3 or more and anyone registering out of their age division are unable to register via Active.com - sorry. Any times listed in Active.com are "dummy/filler" only and do not reflect the actual time of any given game or practice. Specific team information will be made available to parents by each individual coach.
