Youth Sports - Registration Information
General Registration Information for all Juneau Parks and Recreation Youth Sports
All youth sports registrations are 10 working days in length and are FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED. Registration information for all 3 sports are e-mailed out to the previous year's participants and are delivered to the public schools (K-8) for basketball, indoor soccer, and outdoor soccer. Registrations can be mailed, faxed, or brought in to the main office. Registration can also be done online through Active.com (with a convenience fee). They can also be walked into the Zach Gordon Youth Center. One child per form.
The form and money must come in together for a registration to be complete. A family discount is offered for 3 or more children ($50 each for the first two and $15 per child after that--includes City Sales Tax). A late fee of $10 per child is in effect if you register after the last day of the registration period and players are only accepted on a space available basis. We recommend that parents sign their child(ren) up during the first couple days of registration - some divisions fill up fast.
Siblings that are in the same age division need to request to play with each other. Parks and Recreation attempts to honor requests for transportation purposes, but retains the right to deny any request in order to maintain control over team balance. Transportation requests must be made by both parties and only 1 request per child is allowed. Those requesting more than one will not be considered for transportation allowances. Coach requests are not allowed (unless coach is parent of child making request).
Basketball and soccer are team sports; all players will be expected at all games and practices, or have approval from their coach not to attend. Parks and Recreation reserves the right to move players as needed to balance teams with low attendance (mainly 11-18 divisions). If the child is going to miss 3 or more consecutive games and/or practices due to vacations, other commitments, etc., we ask that you do not register your child. Not showing up causes a hardship to the team.
