Picnic Shelters Reservations


September 14, 2014 - Last day of shelter reservations for 2014 season.

During the Fall and Winter months (September 15 through April 9) the shelters are first come first serve, there is no charge and you do not have to fill out a reservation form.

Water and electricity are shut off. Bathrooms are closed but a port-a-potty is available.




Reservations for mid-April through mid-September 2015 will be accepted starting Monday, January 26, 2015. Reservations may be made in person at the Juneau Parks & Recreation office, located on the second floor of the Municipal Building at 155 South Seward Street or by fax - We do not accept reservations over the phone.

Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and need to be made at least three (3) days prior to date of shelter use.  You may call Parks & Recreation for shelter availability at 586-5226.

  • Fees must be collected at the time of reservation
  • Electricity: Savikko #1 & #2 and Twin Lakes Shelter is set on a timer from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Fires in parks

  • Per CBJ Code 67.01.090 (j) Fires.  No person shall make or assist in making any fire within fifty feet of any building or other improvement except in established fireplaces or barbecue pits, and no person shall allow a fire to burn in a manner dangerous to persons or property or to be left unattended.
  • Per Park Policy:  No fires are allowed above the ‘logline’ at Savikko.

All shelters are ADA accessible-Cope Shelter is some what difficult to maneuver to.


First Come - First Serve Facilities

The following parks have picnic areas available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parks & Recreation does not take reservations for these areas.

  • Cope Park is currently under rennovation. There is no shelter.  All picnic tables are first come first served basis.  The ball field still has to be reserved with P&R Office.

  • Twin Lakes (outside) 3 tables; tables small gazebo at the top of the hill

  • Melvin Park - 2 tables

  • Adair-Kennedy Park - 2 grills and table
