Picnic Shelters Reservations



Shelter Reservations are available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Fee:  $26.25 per hour (includes tax) with a maximum charge of $210 for 7am to 10pm rental.



No reservations are needed to use our shelters from Mid-September 2015 through Mid-April 2016, during this time shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis.


Reservations for April 2016 through September 2016 can be made as of January 25th, 2016. For the first two weeks of registration (January 25th through February 5th) reservations can be made in-person only at the Juneau Parks & Recreation office, at the Municipal Building at 155 South Seward Street, second floor. Beginning February 5th, 2016, reservations can be made in-person, emailed, faxed or mailed to the Juneau Parks & Recreation office.


We do not accept reservations without payment.


Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and need to be made at least three (3) days prior to date of shelter use.  You may call Parks & Recreation for shelter availability at 586-5226.

  • Rental Fees are collected at the time of reservation;
  • Electricity: Savikko #1 & #2 and Twin Lakes Shelter is set on a timer from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Fires in parks

  • Per CBJ Code 67.01.090 (j) Fires.  No person shall make or assist in making any fire within fifty feet of any building or other improvement except in established fireplaces or barbecue pits, and no person shall allow a fire to burn in a manner dangerous to persons or property or to be left unattended.
  • Per Park Policy:  No fires are allowed above the ‘logline’ at Savikko.

BOUNCY HOUSE and VENDING POLICY:  If you are using a vendor at CBJ Parksite for catering or entertainment, that vendor must have a valid CBJ vending permit displayed on site at your event.  They are subject to JPD ticketing of violations.  Contact Parks & Recreation Administrative Office for details at 586-5226.  Vending Permit Applications are available by clicking this link (click here).

First Come - First Serve Facilities

The following parks have picnic areas available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parks & Recreation does not take reservations for these areas.

  • Cope Park is currently under rennovation- 1 grills and table

  • Twin Lakes - outside 3 tables; 3 tables in small gazebo at the top of the hill

  • Melvin Park - 2 tables

  • Adair-Kennedy Park - 1 table

  • Fish Creek Park- 1 grill and picnic table

  • West Juneau Rotary Park- 1 grill and 2 tables

  • Channel Wayside Shelter- 2 grills and 2 tables
