Prevatt, James L. & (Sally) Alice Catherine (McCrea)

Jim came to Juneau with the Coast Guard in 1949-1950. Sally came to Juneau with her parents Harry and Charlotte McCrea from Montana in 1945. She attended school in Juneau and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1950.
Jim and Sally married in Florida, June 23, 1950, then after two years came back to Juneau and made it their home.
They had four children: Benjamin Prevatt born Feb. 3, 1953 at St. Annís Hospital, died 1980; Daniel Prevatt born June 29, 1954 at St. Annís Hospital, he resides in Anchorage, Alaska; Paul Prevatt born May 13, 1956 at St. Annís Hospital, he lives in Petersburg, Alaska; and Matthew Prevatt born Nov. 1, 1975 at Bartlett Memorial Hospital also lives in Petersburg.
Sally died Oct. 24, 1995, after a long illness with cancer.
Jim was a chief engineer on the Chilkoot 1955 and Chilkat 1959, and worked as an engineer for Alaska State Ferryís until 1965. He went to work for the Alaska Power Company first at Upper Salmon Creek then at the fuel station at Thane.
He retired after 25 years in 1990. Jim still resides in Juneau.
