Juneau Parks & Recreation

Myiia Whistler, Recreation Superintendent


Myiia Whistler was born in Juneau, Alaska and raised in Douglas, Alaska. She attended Juneau-Douglas High School and graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Recreation in 1990. Myiia started her career in recreation with the Juneau Sports Association providing soccer and softball leagues for adults before being hired on with Juneau Parks & Recreation in the fall of 1990 as the Recreation Program Leader for youth sports. Myiia was promoted to Recreation Supervisor for youth sports and Mt. Jumbo Gym in 2001.

Myiia loves to travel, spend time with her family and recreates all year long, taking full advantage of all the City’s Parks & Recreation facilities. She is active in the adult hockey and softball and sits on the Juneau Douglas Ice Association youth hockey board and has previously coached youth hockey for four years.
