Kimberly Kiefer, City Manager


Kim was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. She moved to Juneau in 1971 with her family. Kim graduated from Juneau Douglas High School in 1977 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Park Management from the University of Oregon in 1983. Kim worked for the Department of Revenue and a private business during high school and college breaks.

After college, Kim worked at the Eyak Youth Center in Cordova before moving back to Juneau to accept a position with the City and Borough of Juneau at the Zach Gordon Youth Center in January of 1985. Kim was the Zach Gordon Youth Center Manager until she was promoted to Recreation Superintendent with the Juneau Parks and Recreation Department in March 1994. Kim was selected to be the Director of Juneau Parks and Recreation in 1998 and held that post until January 2006 when she was promoted to Deputy City Manager. In 2012, Kim was promoted to City Manager. Kim is an active member of the Juneau Gastineau Rotary Club.
