Coffee & Collections: Góok! Go Ahead, Do It!

December 2016

"Word of the Week," courtesy of Tlingit Language Learners.

Join the Tlingit Language Learners group at the City Museum for a discussion of learning. Anne Fuller (with many helpers) will be leading the discussion and demonstrations. Hear individual stories of what group members have learned and to whom they owe respect for the wonderful learning materials now available. The group will also discuss books, websites, CDs, apps, even Facebook pages for learning Tlingit. Listen to the different uvular sounds. Hear why adults are playing easy card games to perfect their memory of numbers and colors. Learn some of the words to describe the paintings of Barbara Craver’s exhibit, Kalé, Beautiful Face, which will be on view at the museum through December 31st. Craver has titled her paintings and themed her exhibit around Tlingit place names, using them as a new perspective when looking at the landscape around us. Everyone in the community with any level of language knowledge is welcome to join in listening, learning, and sharing. This event is free, and coffee will be provided courtesy of Heritage Coffee Company.
