Alaska Commercial Fishermen's Memorial
Hjalmar Savikko

Hjalmar Savikko was born in Douglas, Alaska and began fishing with his dad when he was ten years old. Hjalmar began fishing for a living when he finished his military service in 1944. The name of his vessel was the Martha Marie and he was Highliner. A Highliner is considered one of the best fishermen in the fishing fleet.
