Mission Statement

By analyzing information related to the preparedness and response of the CBJ, AEL&P, and the public to the recent loss of hydroelectric power from the avalanches, prepare a report that recommends actions and promotes preparedness in the face of a similar event that might disrupt services that are essential to the community.

PREAMBLE TO THE PUBLIC REVIEW (AUGUST 15, 2008) DRAFT OF THE
LESSONS-LEARNED COMMISSION REPORT

In an effort to provide a draft of the Lessons-Learned Commission Report in advance of the August 10, 2008 public hearing, the attached draft is still a work in-progress. The Commission and consultants are continuing to take input from the citizens of Juneau and other key officials who have not been consulted for a variety of reasons. There are a couple locations in the draft where information is still being drafted, and they are so-indicated in the narrative.

The intent of this draft is to get the dialogue going at a different level. Additional information and insights are encouraged and will be considered as the consultants work to complete a final report from the Commission to the Mayor.

The Lessons Learned Commission requests public input to its review process of the Community’s electricity crisis experienced as a result of the avalanches on the AEL&P Snettisham on April 16, 2008.
