Community and School Programs
5th Grade Passport Program
All 5th graders in Juneau receive a passport good for free lift tickets at Eaglecrest. In addition, they receive one free equipment rental and one free lesson. This program, subsidized by Eaglecrest, is entering its fourth year and is a favorite within the community. The free lesson and free equipment rental cannot be used with the mid-week school program.
Eaglecrest Mid-Week School Program
Every middle school age child in Juneau is given the opportunity to ski or ride at Eaglecrest twice each season at greatly reduced rates as part of their physical education program. In addition, many elementary classes, private schools, and home school programs also participate in the Mid-Week school program at the same reduced rates. Classes from areas throughout the state also visit Eaglecrest as part of their field trips to Juneau. Over 3000 school-aged youths visited Eaglecrest during the 2011/2012 season.
Teachers...times are filling up quickly! Eaglecrest would love to schedule time for your class to come up to the mountain. Expect to spend most of the day away from school and getting some exercise! Books2Boards (B2B) Program
This program is funded through the Eaglecrest Foundation and provides Juneau middle school students the opportunity to enjoy winter sports at Eaglecrest at no cost. Students for the program are chosen by teachers and staff based on their economic and social need, grades, and attendance. Students chosen are expected to keep good grades, good attendance and low behavioral issues in school. In return they are provided free lift tickets, ski/snowboard rentals, bus transportation and access to clothing including jackets, pants, gloves, and helmets.
Books2Boards is sponsored in part by Mendenhall Auto Subaru and by grants from Holland America Line.
Hilary Lindh Season Pass Scholarship
At the start of each Eaglecrest season we begin accepting applications for the Hilary Lindh Scholarship. The Eaglecrest board of directors awards four unlimited season passes to Juneau area students. Two passes are awarded to a girl and boy in grades K-5, and two passes are awarded to a girl and boy in grades 6-12. Typically scholarship decisions are made in the begining of December. Applicants are judged on scholastic achievement, competitive or passionate spirit, and financial need.
Learn to Ski Weekend
Each year Eaglecrest puts on the annual Learn to Ski for Free Weekend for 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders who have never skied before. Forty-Five youngsters are picked by a lottery and receive a weekend of lessons, lift tickets, rentals, and transportation. This program is entering its 31st year and is currently sponsored by Mendenhall Auto Center Subaru.
