The residents of Juneau approved an $800,000 ballot measure to construct a mid-mountain chairlift. In order to obtain the funding, Eaglecrest was required to raise an additional $100,000. A capital campaign was developed and over $225,000 was raised. A very generous grant of $200,000 from the Rasmuson Foundation provided additional funds for this project.
April 22, 2008 - ARETE Construction was awarded the Mid-Mountain Chairlift and access road project. The bid amount of $1.132 million falls within the Engineer's estimate and rock blasting, which is the first step of the project could begin in a few weeks. Construction timelines will be developed and released shortly. We anticipate the top and bottom terminal and towers will be constructed this summer with final cable installation excepted mid-summer 2009.
May 12, 2009 - work has begun on completing the Upper Terminal. The last four towers installed next week.
