02-08-2016 11:27:54:Today is Skiers Friday, which means itís the end of our work week. A day at Eaglecrest is way better than a day in town, so grab your gear and head up for some turns.

Hooter & Porcupine Chairs will operate today from 9am Ė 4pm. Ptarmigan will run until 3:30pm. Black Bear is closed today. Groomed skiing should be excellent. Off trail conditions should still be good, temp at the top warmer up a bit. The snow could be heavier than the past few days, but youíll be able to find some powder stashes and soft, skier cut turns out there. Just a reminder we still have thin snow coverage on the lower mountain and marked and unmarked obstacles do exist.

The Snow Bus will not operate today and Mountain Lift will be closed. The Eaglecrest Grill will be open for breakfast, lunch and snacks. Today is a great day to take a lesson from the Snowsports School. Call 790-2000 x211 to make a reservation.

The whole month of February our Retail and Repair Shops will have great deals: $10 off full tunes, $5 off edge/wax combos, and T-Shirts for just $13!

Lower Nordic Loop Improvements

The Lower Nordic Loop has several stream crossings that tend to erode the snow during the season. A grant from the Alaska Trails Initiative was received to culvert the stream crossings and remove some of the sharp corners on the lower loop.

As of May 6 we are waiting on a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers. Once we have this permit, work will begin on installation of new culverts. Until then we have been given the ok to work on existing culverts.

To help with the installation of the culverts as well as hauling rock and doing other trail work, we have purchased a Morooka, an all terrain vehicle. The Morooka arrived on June 24.

July 16 - work has begun replacing culverts on the lower loop

August 6 - work on replacing culverts is completed
