Eaglecrest Board Selects New General Manager
Juneau, AK – July 27 The Eaglecrest Board of Directors has selected Ray Gardner to be the new General Manager of the Eaglecrest Ski Area. Mr. Gardner grew up in Oregon and holds a degree in Ski Area Management from Wenatchee Valley College, Washington. He has over 18 years in the ski industry and is expected to start his new position shortly after Labor Day.
Mr. Gardner has a broad range of experience in the ski industry including operations, development, & design. He has been the Attractions Manager for Stone Mountain Park Atlanta, Georgia for the past three years where he built and operated Snow Mountain, metro Atlanta’s only snow operation. Prior to moving to Atlanta, Gardner was the Mountain Manager for Willamette Pass Ski Resort, outside of Eugene, Oregon for 15 years.
“I think Ray will be an excellent fit for Eaglecrest and the community.” said Wayne Stevens, President of the Eaglecrest Board. “He did an incredible job in the Assessment Center we just conducted and was the hands down choice of the hiring committee and the staff who observed the selection process. He is a competent manager, with excellent ski area experience. He should be able to take the helm seamlessly and keep Eaglecrest moving in a positive direction.”
Gardner replaces Kirk Duncan, General Manager for the past six years who has taken on the position of Director of Public Works for the City and Borough of Juneau.
