02-07-2016 12:56:39:It’s Super Bowl Sunday and we’re predicting a big win for Eaglecrest. The snowline is well below the Eaglecrest base. We got 3 more inches of new snow overnight, putting us at 21 inches since opening Thursday morning! Temp at the top is 26 degrees with SE winds around 15 knots.

Off trail skiing doesn’t get much better: lots of snow, lots of untracked powder, lots of refills. The forecast looks like more of the same ahead as long as the temps stay cold we will continue to get snow. Be careful off the groomed runs, low snow conditions exist, especially towards the lower mountain. Marked and unmarked obstacles do exist.

For today – Mountain Lift has added another location for weekend service and will be up in the Eagle's Nest. All chairlifts are running. Lifts start at 9am. Hooter and Porcupine will close at 4pm. Ptarmigan and Black Bear at 3:30. Bowls access ends at least 30 minutes before last chair. Cross country skiing is groomed for both skating and classic styles on the upper Nordic loop, access via the Trickster trail.

Eaglecrest announces early opening!   

 Juneau, AK – November 18 – Eaglecrest Ski Area will open for the 2011-2012 Season on Friday, November 25.  With over 46” of new snow since November 12th, Eaglecrest is looking forward to one of the earliest and best opening days in recent memory. 

“We have received significant early season snowfall and are happy to be able to open earlier than our December 3 target date” said Matt Lillard, General Manager. “It looks like we are off to a great start for the season. Early season conditions exist and we urge folks to ski and ride with caution”.

Operations for the season will begin at 9am on Friday, November 25 with the Ptarmigan, Hooter and Porcupine chairs operating.  Further details on terrain openings will be available closer to opening day. Eaglecrest will be open from 9am to 3pm and will operate Friday through Sunday, November 27.  The mountain will be closed Monday through Friday and reopening on Saturday, December 3. 

The Rental and Repair Shop will be in full operations.  The Snowsports School will have limited instructor availability opening weekend and reservations are required. The Eaglecrest Grill will be open with a limited menu for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Mountain Lift Coffee Stand will be open. The Snow Bus will not operate opening weekend.

Season Passes and multi-visit rates can still be purchased at our EarlyBird rates through November 27. The Base Lodge is now open Thursday through Monday (Closed Thanksgiving Day) from 10am to 3pm.  For more information visit our website skijuneau.com.
