02-12-2016 06:16:23: No new snow in the past couple days, but the mountain is skiing really well. Yesterday the groomers ran fast, fun, and true, and off-groomed was creamy all over with a firmer, supportive layer underneath. Today looks like it should be good again with more of the same, only with some precipitation expected.

Temperature at the top of the mountain is 34 degrees with light winds at 12 mph, 38 at the base with no winds, higher clouds with light and occasional rain occurring and expected throughout the day.

Porcupine, Hooter, and Ptarmigan lifts start loading at 9:00 AM this morning, with Ptarmigan closing at 3:30 this afternoon, the bowls closing at least 30 minutes prior, and Porcupine and Hooter closing at 4:00.

The grooming crew touched up a few of the normal runs over night. The “groomer of the day” is the upper Nordic loop – groomed for skating, set with classic tracks, undulating terrain, and a scenic setting, it is a Nordic wonderland. And, if you are an intermediate and above Nordic skier interested in improving your skills, Scott McGee, the PSIA National Nordic Team Coach and one of the highest regarded Nordic coaches in the world is offering classic and skate lessons this weekend. Check out our website or call the Snowsports School at 790-2000 ext 211 for reservations.

All mountain services are open.

The thought for the day is this – “Winter is not over. Right now we’re just ahead of schedule for spring skiing.”
