A qualified voter may vote by fax beginning 15 days before and through the close of the polls on election day. The voter must submit a written request for a fax ballot to the election official's office no later than 5:00 p.m. the day before election day. An absentee ballot that is completed and returned by fax must contain the following statement: "I understand that by using fax transmission to return my marked ballot, I am voluntarily waiving a portion of my right to a secret ballot to the extent necessary to process my ballot, but expect that my vote will be held as confidential as possible."

A Fax Ballot Application form is available from the election official 15 days before the election. To receive an application for a faxed ballot, please contact the Election Official at (907) 586-5278, or send an email to: city_clerk@ci.juneau.ak.us

For the June 12 Special Election, the signed application for a fax ballot must be received in the City Clerk's Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007. When a completed application for a faxed ballot has been received, a ballot will be faxed, along with instructions for marking and submitting the voted faxed ballot.

Personal Representative Voting:

A qualified voter who is unable to go to the polling place on election day due to age, illness or disability, may appoint a personal representative to obtain a ballot for the voter on or after the 15th day before an election, up to and including election day. Persons who are ill or unable to go to the polls, who still wish to vote and have not chosen one of the methods above, may contact the Clerk's Office to make arrangements for an absentee ballot by personal representative.
