IV. Juneau Human Rights Commission (JHRC) (pp. 5 - 6)
Washington Parks will present the JHRC request of $2,500 for FY13 to fund continuation of their “I Am Juneau” events. The JRHC received $5,000 in FY12 of which they anticipate spending only $3,000. There is currently no funding for the JRHC in the FY13 budget.
This request is coming before the AFC because Assembly policy dictates that any board or commission expenditure that exceeds $500 must be approved by the Assembly.
The packet includes a memo from the JHRC and their FY13 budget proposal.
A motion is needed to approve the JHRC’s funding request for FY13, identify the funding source and to amend Ordinance 2012-20 to reflect any change.
V. Alaska Committee (pp. 7)
Max Mertz, Alaska Committee Treasurer, will present the Alaska Committee’s funding request for $434,500. This is the same level of funding as in FY12 although the Committee anticipates spending only $421,428. The Alaska Committee is funded out of the $500,000 allocated to Better Capital City.
The packet includes a history of the Alaska Committee’s budget and actuals for FY11, FY12 and FY13 (budget only).
A motion is needed to approve the Alaska Committee’s funding request for FY13 and to continue using the Better Capital City funds as the funding source.
VI. Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau (JCVB) (pp. 8 - 9)
Ms. Lorene Palmer, JCVB President and CEO, will present information on JCVB’s current and future operations. The JCVB FY13 funding is $650,000 from hotel tax to promote Juneau as a travel destination. This is the same level of funding as in FY12. An additional $123,800 is received from Centennial Hall to promote conventions and other business use of the facility.
The packet includes a memo from Ms. Palmer and JCVB’s FY13 Proposed budget.
VII. Juneau International Airport (JIA) (pp. 10 - 21)
Patricia deLabruere, Airport Deputy Manager, and John Coleman, Administrative Officer, will present information on JIA’s FY12 operations, the FY13 and FY14 Proposed Budgets and future plans. Jeanne Johnson, Airport Manager, Jerry Godkin, Board Chair and Pete Carlson, Board Finance Chair will also be at the meeting.
The packet includes the JIA presentation.
A motion is needed to approve the FY13 and FY14 Proposed Budgets as presented. There are no changes from the originally proposed budgets already included in Ordinance 2012-20.
VIII. Pending Items (pp. 22 - 38)
The Pending Items list has been separated into 3 categories:
1. Board Approved Operating Budgets (p. 22) –
With the exception of BRH, the proposed budgets presented in the budget book are unchanged. The BRH FY13 and FY14 Proposed Budgets were not available at the time the budget document was submitted to the AFC on April 4. The BRH FY13 and FY14 Proposed Budgets were presented to the AFC on May 2, 2012.
A motion is needed to approve the FY13 and FY14 Proposed Budgets as presented and to amend Ordinance 2012-20 for Bartlett Regional Hospital.
2. Items Included in the FY13 and FY14 Proposed Budgets (p. 23) –
The proposed budgets for these items are already funded in the FY13 and FY14 Proposed Budgets.
A motion is needed to approve these items. No amendment is needed Ordinance 2012-20 if these items are approved as listed.
3. Additional Requests, not currently funded (p. 24) –
These requests have been place on the Pending Items list at direction of the AFC at prior meetings.
