IV. Budget Balancing Discussion
This meeting is scheduled to discuss Finance Committee ideas on balancing the FY11 and FY12 budget. The packet includes the following information.
- A memo from the City Manager noting the chronology and explanations of the various actions and decisions taken to address the projected FY11 and FY12 budget shortfalls. (p. 3 to 5)
- A listing of the Immediate Budget Reductions put into place last October 2009. (p. 6 to 8)
- A listing of Total Budget Reductions identified to date. (p. 9 to 11)
- A Budget Reduction Narrative explaining the larger budget reductions amounts identified in the Total Budget Reductions schedule noted above. (p. 12 to 14)
The Charter requires that the City Manager present to the Assembly a balanced budget. An issue going into this year’s budget process is deciding on the budget balancing decisions in time to work changes into the FY11 and FY 12 Biennial Budget document. A chart showing the budget preparation schedule between now and the April 5 budget document due date is attached. (p. 15)
