In February 2003, the City and Borough of Juneau retained a team of consultants, led by Bermello, Ajamil & Partners, Inc., to work alongside the community to formulate a long range vision and strategy for Juneau's central waterfront. This important, two-and-a-half mile stretch of waterfront (extending from the Juneau-Douglas Bridge to the Little Rock Dump) is a focus of community recreation, tourism and marine industries, and downtown commercial activity; it is an essential piece in the life and livelihood of the City and Borough.
To date, several public meetings workshops have been held to move the Plan from a series of community priorities to a draft waterfront plan. Your comments to the Assembly, Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee or the Docks and Harbors Board will help shape the Final Plan and identify how the waterfront will continue to evolve as a place for Juneau residents and visitors to live, work and play.
The City and Borough of Juneau is curently reviewing the consultant's Preliminary Waterfront Concept Plan and Waterfront Master Plan. Please call the Waterfront Project Hotline at 586-2994 if you wish to comment.
