Additional Information

General Description

"This wood frame, two-story structure (52.4 x 24') has a gable roof covered with composition shingles and a concrete foundation. A rectangular addition (28' x 24') was added in the 1960's. Following a fire on June 1, 2009 that completely destroyed the neighboring home, exterior wood shingle siding was replaced with horizontal siding. The double-hung windows have all been replaced. Original architectural elements, however, remain. These include three small gable roofed roof dormers with closed cornices, two hipped roofed enclosed entry porches with fixed and double-hung windows. Despite changes to siding and new windows, it retains its architectural integrity and is a contributing element to the architectural and historic unity of the neighborhood. It is a contributing structure in the Chicken Ridge Historic District. "

Historical Information

"George Dull probably built this apartment building. A pioneer resident of Juneau, Dull was a miner and contractor. In 1915-16, Dull worked as superintendent of the Juneau Water Company."
