Residential Structure Fire Response 7-31-2010
On Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 2238 hours, Capital City Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at a residence off of Lake View Court in the valley.
Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered a greenhouse on a wood deck on fire. The fire was confined to the greenhouse, which was less than 3 feet away from the residence roof eave.
The fire was reported by a passer by. The occupants were home at the time of the fire and used portable fire extinguishers and a garden hose to knock down the fire.
There were no injuries and the damage is estimated at approximately $5,000.
The fire was determined to have been caused by smoking materials inside of the greenhouse.
