Capital City Fire/RescueCooking Fire 5577 Aisek StreetOn 3-16-10 at approximately 1325 hours, Capital City Fire Rescue Received a report of a structure fire at the Halfway House located at 5577 Aisek Street. The 911 caller reported black smoke, flames and one injured person. Engines-17, 38, Truck-32, R-1, Medic 5, 6 , 5-Chief Officers and approximately 10 Volunteer Firefighters responded On arrival light smoke was seen emitting from the main entrance. There was an adult female lying on the ground coughing and being attended to by a retired JPD Officer. The building maintenance supervisor reported the fire was out. The building was searched and ventilated of smoke and Carbon Monoxide. The fire originated from cooking with oil on top of the stove. The injured person declined medical treatment and was released from the scene. No foul play is suspected. The fire was extinguished with a single ABC extinguisher. The fire was contained to the container on top of the stove. Damage is estimated at less than $1500.00 CCFR reminds people to make sure the address numbers on your buildings and homes are visible from the road. If the numbers can not be seen from the road it could delay emergency responders from locating you. |
