Project Playground fire April 24, 2017

On Monday April 24, 2017 @ 5:43 pm Capital City Fire Rescue Responded to Twin Lakes for structure fire. Arrival to find the Project Playground structures were fully engulfed on fire. Multiple fire apparatus arrived and used our deck gun and large diameter hose to put out the fire. Large quantities of water was used that took the fire department to put out in 45 minutes. It took another 2 hours to completely extinguish any remaining smoldering fire. At this time the Fire Marshalls are investigating the fire as Arson. An estimated damage of over $250,000. The cost of the playground is over $590,000 that came from the community donations. The Fire Marshalls will provide more information. On a side note when F-2 arrived on scene a mother was looking for her young school age daughter. She was assisted with JPD and the daughter was found safe. No injuries occurred on scene. Approximately 30 firefighters were on scene.
