4-18-2017 Fire Marshal's Seek Help with Investigating Fires

The Capital City Fire Marshal's Office is asking the public for help with two fires. On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at approximately 2:32 PM, Capital City Fire Rescue responded to a fire off of Steep Place in the Mendenhall Valley. The original call came in as an open burn. When fire personnel arrived they found a fire in the backyard of a home that had burned a large section of wooden fence, a wooden gazebo and vegetation before starting to spread to the house. This fire is being investigated as an intentional fire, not an open burn. On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at approximately 4:22 PM, Capital City Fire Rescue responded to the Savviko ball fields on Douglas, for a report of a bench fire in a dug out. Fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire. This fire is being investigated as an intentional fire. Anyone with information on either of these fires is asked to contact the Fire Marshal's Office at 586-5322 or Juneau Police Department at 586-0600. Submitted by: Fire Marshal Daniel Jager
