Mendenhall River Search
On 8-8-2011 at 2354 hours CCFR received a report of a female in the Mendenhall River at Postal Way.
CCFR initiated a detailed search of the river using a rescue boat with spot lights and personnel walking the banks of the river. At approximately 0200 hours the USCG helicopter from Sitka arrived and did a thorough search of the river and surrounding banks using spotlights and an infrared camera.
Further investigation showed there were no creditable indications that a person was actually missing in the water. The eye witnesses based their 911 report on what sounded like a person in the water. The search was terminated at 0300 hours.
