West Glacier Trail Rescue

On July 16, 2015 at 12:52 pm Capital City Fire Rescue responded to the West Glacier trail for a rescue of a non -local 40ís male. The male had slipped on the rocks on the trail by the front of the glacier and ended up having a fractured leg. The male was located close to the front of the glacier and approximately 500ft up the rocky hillside. CCFR responded to Mendenhall Lake with a crew, medical gear and rescue boat to the patient. The patient was treated and a Temsco helicopter transported the patient and 2 medical crewmembers to the Hospital. There were 3 other family members (wife and 2 Kids) with the patient that was taken by the Rescue boat back to the boat launch ramp on Mendenhall Lake and transported to the hospital to meet up with the other member of the family.
