Rope Rescue Incident - Glacier Spur Road 6-15-2015

On Monday, June 15, 2015 at approximately 3:50 PM, Capital City Fire Rescue responded to a trail off of the Glacier Spur Road for a male patient with a broken leg. Upon arrival, rescue personnel found a male patient approxiamtely 1/4 of a mile down a trail who had fallen down a steep embankment. The CCFR Rope Rescue team members were able to safely rescue the patient. A young boy who was on site prior to fire personnel, had assisted the patient by placing a splint on the leg to help stabilize it. The patient was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for non life threatening injuries for further treatement. CCFR would like to thank the Alaska State Troopers and Juneau Mountain Rescue were on stand by but not needed. All personnel cleared the incident at approximately 6 PM.
