6/1/2014 - Residential Structure Fire - 6020 Gull Way

On Sunday, June 1, 2014, at approximately 4:07PM, Capital City Fire Rescue responded to 6020 Gull Way in Lemon Creek, for a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a single story, single family dwelling with heavy fire and smoke on the deck and side yard. The neighbor on one of the sides had melted vinyl siding from the intense radiant heat. There were no injuries reported and the home was insured. The home was a total loss. A fire investigation was conducted by the fire marshal’s office and it was determined that an electric fish smoker was the likely cause of the fire. There was approximately $60,000 in fire and smoke damage. The owner received help from the American Red Cross as well as their employer and other friends. There were multiple emergencies occurring across the city during this fire, which placed a strain on resources. Volunteer personnel were able to help handle those calls. CCFR would like to remind everyone to use caution when using outdoor electrical appliances and to follow all manufacturers’ instructions when using them. Submitted by: Fire Marshal Daniel Jager
