Capital City Fire/Rescue

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jan 24th, 2014 Contact: Noah Jenkins, President Local 4303 Email: Mobile: 907-209-4722 Juneau, AK- The Juneau Career Fire Fighters Association and Alaska Professional Firefighters, will host a program for elected and appointed officials as well as members of the media known as FIRE OPS 101. This daylong program includes hands-on fire fighting and rescue operations under controlled supervision of Juneauís career firefighters and paramedics. Participants will learn exactly how challenging it is to keep our community safe. This workshop will demonstrate many aspects of fire and emergency medical service operations, from suiting up in the proper protective gear to putting out fires. Each of the four scenarios will give participants the opportunity to experience in a controlled environment what firefighters and paramedics face on a day-to-day basis. Each participant will learn how to use self contained breathing apparatus, essential to breathing in heavy smoke. Participants will also learn to battle a live fire and be given instruction on how to respond to a cardiac arrest. FIRE OPS 101 is Saturday, February 1st, 2014 at the Hagevig Regional Fire Training Facility. Media and photographers who plan to cover this event are asked to contact Local 4303 prior to January 28th, 2014.
