Capital City Fire/Rescue

Change your clock; change your batteries

Change your clock; change your smoke alarm batteries FACT: Most people feel that the safest place to be is in their own HOME. FACT: Approximately 80% of all fire fatalities occur in the HOME. FACT: A fire doubles in size every 30 seconds. If you had a fire in your home tonight, would you make it out alive? Capital City Fire Rescue wants you to remember to change the batteries in ALL of your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors this weekend when you change your clocks as daylight savings ends. Do not place you or your loved ones at unnecessary risk! Ensure that you have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. The life you save may be your own. Do not become a statistic! Contact the Capital City Fire Marshal’s Office if you have any questions regarding this or any other fire/emergency safety concerns. We provide free use of chimney cleaning brushes, free home safety checklists and handouts, and conduct courtesy home safety surveys.
