1. Ordinances for Introduction
a. Ordinance 2011-11(C)
This ordinance would appropriate $4,509,960 to the Runway Safety Area Construction project (RSA). The funds come from a Federal Airport Improvement Program grant (AIP52). Matching funds would be from the Alaska Department of Transportation, and Airport funds received through royalty payments from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for fill material provided by the Airport to this project.
The Airport Board approved this action at its March 9, 2011 meeting.
I recommend this ordinance be introduced and set for public hearing at the next regular meeting.
VI. BID AWARD
Bids were opened on the subject project on June 8, 2011. The bid protest period expired at 4:30 p.m. on June 14, 2011. Results of the bid opening are as follows:
A bid was received from CentiMark Corporation, but it was rejected because CentiMark Corporation cannot provide a manufacturer’s warranty for the specified roof system, as required in the contract documents.
The project includes removal of the existing IRMA roof system down to the structural roof deck; installation of a sloping, insulated fully adhered single ply roof membrane roofing system to drains, and mechanical and electrical modifications as needed to accommodate new roof.
I recommend award of this project to Universal Roofing of Alaska, in the amount of the Total Bid, for a total award of $1,870,000.
