A. Resolution 2452
A Resolution Authorizing the Manager to Submit to the Rasmuson Foundation an Application for a Grant for Partial Funding for Construction of Certain Components of the Dimond Park Aquatic Center.
This Resolution authorizes the Manager to submit a grant request for $1,500,000 to the Rasmuson Foundation to support construction of two components of the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. On August 18, 2008 we received notification that the City was invited by the Rasmuson Foundation to submit a full Tier 2 proposal for up to $1,500,000. The funding would support installation of a therapeutic resistance channel that would attract a broad spectrum of users from youth and adults to seniors. The second component would support partial funding for environmentally sustainable ground source heat pumps, which according to CBJ’s sub consultant would save the City between $160,000 and $190,000 annually in utility costs. CBJ will submit an additional grant to the Alaska Energy Authority for the balance in September.
I recommend that this resolution be adopted.
