III. ORDINANCES FOR PUBLIC HEARING
A. Ordinance 2001-30
An Emergency Ordinance Correcting The Roaded Service Area Property Description Set Out In Ordinance 2001-17.
Ordinance 2001-17, which was adopted on April 16 and will be effective on May 16, contained an error in the property description of the Roaded Service Area. If the ordinance is allowed to become effective, the error will cause a reduction in the size of the service area. This will result in a loss of police, road, and other services for all property north of Tee Harbor. Ordinance 2001-30 is an emergency ordinance, which will become effective immediately on adoption, thus correcting the error before the error becomes effective. This emergency ordinance requires six votes for adoption, and will expire in 90 days. Before it expires, we will present a permanent ordinance for introduction in the normal manner.
Your packet includes a memorandum from the Attorney, which provides a full explanation of the error and the rules for emergency ordinances.
I recommend that this ordinance be adopted.
Note: Agenda packets are available for review at the Juneau Municipal Libraries
