
Project Goals and Objectives
The goal of the Terminal Master Plan is to provide a feasible, flexible, and functional terminal development program for Juneau International Airport that is both economically and financially viable.
Objectives
Develop an efficient, adaptable passenger terminal complex, providing a high level of service to passengers.
Identify passenger processing needs within the terminal facility
Provide secure concessions for improved passenger levels of service and increased airport revenue
Increase security screening areas and provide future flexibility
Increase ticket lobby queue and cross circulation space
Provide baggage claim area flexibility allowing for future peak hour and future widebody arrivals.
Improve passenger way-finding
Improve overall terminal image - interior finishes and lighting
Improve vertical circulation
Provide flexibility for growth and change
Improve depth of sidewalk and usable curb length
Improve landside arrangement and passenger curb front
Tie solutions to planning design levels; projects triggered by growth or changes in activity
Identify a realistic phased terminal development program to accommodate demand
Maximize existing facilities’ operational efficiency
Maintain design consistency between existing and proposed development
Provide clear, uncomplicated terminal operations, functions, and systems
Provide clear orientation between gate area through terminal to baggage claim, curbs, transit, and parking
Provide a safe terminal environment by implementing the latest security procedures and technology
Adapt FAA & ATA standard planning criteria for terminal development
Formulate a cost-effective terminal development program
Ensure efficient connections between new and existing terminal areas
Provide for incremental expansion and shifts in building functions
